The iShares Silver Trust (SLV) remains a go-to investment for those wanting silver price exposure. Most retail traders focus on standard indicators like moving averages and RSI, but there’s a less-discussed metric worth examining: daily Beta, which measures how silver moves relative to the broader market.

Looking at SLV’s daily data from September 2013 through January 9, 2026, Beta appears to offer predictive value for spotting overextended moves. When Beta readings are low or moderate, SLV typically experiences steady, mildly bullish conditions. However, when Beta is elevated, readings often mark the end of rallies, with sharp reversals following within a month.

For our study, the 30-day Beta is chosen because it needs to be short enough to capture live momentum. Short-term Beta also adapts more quickly to volatility regime shifts.

The table below summarizes average forward returns and win rates following daily closes in each Beta bucket.
